Technical translator Yuriy Vassilenko

My native language is Russian; I live in Russia (Moscow). As an independent English-Russian translator, I work more than 10 years, since 2006 on a permanent basis. I am a member of the UTR (Union of Translators of Russia) and FIT-IFT (International Federation of Translators).

I have the radio-technical high education (NEIS them. ND Psurtseva [SibSUTI now], Department of Radio Communications and Broadcasting, 1985), and 17-years experience of engineering work extremely valuable for the technical translator. During the years of my translator career, I acquired experience in translation in the following subject fields, where I specialize:

In my work, I use various CAT tools (Trados, Passolo, SDLX, etc.) and other necessary software tools (electronic dictionaries, PDF document convertor, virtualization, etc.).

Quality assurance

I always check the finished translation for the following standard procedure: spell checking, double editing, proofreading and final re-check the spelling. This approach provides the high quality translations. If necessary (either by request) I can invite independent experts for additional quality control, because I maintained good contacts with colleagues, has been successfully working in various fields of specialization. This means that I used quality-control procedure no less stringent than the prescribed standard DIN EN 15038. In carrying out urgent orders with large amounts, I to engage the reliable, trusted colleagues, which allows me to comply with customer requirements in terms of quality and timing of the transfer. To comply with the terminology in the translation of the texts, I used Russian regulatory documents (I have a large collection of GOST, SNIP, etc.).

Pricing

The price is always set individually for each order and its features. Price, as a rule, can be debated and can vary because it depends on many factors, such as on available resources (translation memory, terminology databases, etc.), the amount of text, etc. That the client was able to assess my skills as a translator, I am ready to do a free test translation (up to 250-300 words, as far as possible from the context).
